goodluck goodbye

I have kabhi alvida na kehna playing on the laptop as I work. I’m not even watching the movie. I’m just letting the movie loop and the music’s playing on as I stare at the colours while trying to do my writings. What I’ve realised is that even though I’ve seen it once before in a neighbourhood theatre with di, the music and images remain absolutelyyy beautiful.

I think bollywood shows (and korean ones) make good romantic stories. hurhur.

ANYWAY I am also disgruntled and excited (today) at the same time because the nationalstadium is closing (i hate it when everything starts to disappear in the name of globalisation). !! I wish they cared more. But for now we have to make do with finding our own space of resistance and seeking little pockets of contentment in a land that keeps destroying its history.

It is bittersweet– I am excited because I’ve got tickets and i’m going to go cover the closing ceremony of the event. But Im starting to think that my country is getting/feeling lost as it seeks to secure a global identity. Still, I think I’m going to be absolutely shameless and sing songs (very loudly). There’s also gonna be a spore vs msia friendly soccer match to mark the last day of the stadium before it gets knocked out and perishes alongside other wellloved heritage sites like the national library and old hospitals. Tidibt: Fandi Ahmad will be playing. Alongside some of the older soccer players. Wow. And then there’s a match between the lions and the soccerroos!

Hopefully there’ll be fireworks!!
