hello, i still know your songs

I have stories and reviews stacking up like pancakes on the couch beside me. I should get down to it, really I should!! – STILL an afternoon matinĂ©e makes it practically impossible to concentrate on a sunday because the chords and keys keep dancing between the lines. I forsee a next week of Busy but I have one hand on a fish burger in a yellow styrofoam box and another clutching the CD and staring at the lyrics. Ohno – I am soo distracted!
Harhar. I don’t think I’ve felt so fondly for a musical like I’ve had Beauty World before. ALSO my attachment to michaelchiang’s script/musical stems from a long time ago (8 years? I can’t remember) – but I remember:

Reciting the script. Singing the songs. Ivy Chan from batu bahat. Sharon Au as fabulous Lulu. Highclass/lowclass/noclass. Heh. When di and i first wrote our first musical, the stories were also inspired by BW!

There is also nobody else to watch this show with except Ruthie because she first introduced the musical to us! AND she was there from the beginning (you won’t believe if I told you she had the tape + would make guests watch it overandover whenever they visited!) Harhar. we would also spend days and nights on end repeating catchphrases, and lyrics to every. song. Omg!

So they changed a little of the script/ added new songs here and there but it was still amazinggg because plenty of things were brought back to life! And the stage layout and flickering fairylights etc. made the whole place feel somewhat magical. Then again, I am ultrabiased because I have a soft spot for BW. So there.

I should let pictures do the talking, but I’m waiting for dear R to upload them all. What an amazing afternoon!
