Backpost: Our 1st year wedding anniversary

The husband and I celebrated our 1st year anniversary in Paris! It was a complete coincidence, and not planned at all.

To commemorate the event, we decided to ditch michelin-star restaurants and fancyshmancy food places. Instead, we ran across the street in the cold (me in my PJs), and to buy takeaway from a nearby grocery shop. The plan was to get instant noodles and have a candlelight dinner in our apartment. (with Di and Raph!)

This is what we got!

Ta da!

I’m sure to remember the day in many years to come. And it was wonderful celebrating it with family. I still have fond memories of cycling in the cold and visiting the sites – but I must say we had the most fun in our little parisian apartment which we shared with my sis and brother in law!

The Blue Blanket

Doxies love fleece!

I saw this blue fleece blanket in Ikea and HAD to get it for little M. Imagine the fun he would have burrowing in between the sheets and playing around with it!

I was so excited to surprise M with his blankie! However, Z and I decided to give it to him another day because he was still messing the place with his poop and pee. We didn’t want to dirty the blankie!

As I stood by the counter paying for our purchases, it suddenly hit me. There I was, gushing about M and getting all excited over his new blanket because I know he’ll love it. Wouldn’t Daddy God be doing the same with me? How much more would Jesus gush about me, and fulfill the desires of my heart long before I ask Him to? I bet He has already purchased whatever He knows I want/need (on the cross) for me!

It’s amazing how the Lord reveals His heart to me through little M.

I’m enjoying this journey!

Red Velvet

I am not a baker.

But to celebrate a special friend’s baby shower, Di and I decided to commemorate the important day with homemade cake!

We decided to make Red Velvet Cake because it’s a cake commonly used to mark special occasions (like birthdays and weddings).

We used Pioneer Woman’s recipe here  which seemed easy enough & decided to prepare the frosting in the morning while baking the cake at night.

I also prepared some pretty flags to go!

I’m going to try Paula Deen’s Red Velvet Cupcakes recipe the next time I bake red velvet. The recipe calls for vegetable oil instead of shortening/butter – and it’s said to make the cake moist & yummy! The professionals also suggest using a handheld mixer instead of a standing mixer to prevent it from ‘overbeating’.

You can find the recipe after the jump!
