Soya Sauce Chicken

I’m no brilliant chef, but I’ve been wanting to cook more this year.

Coincidentally, the husband and I have been watching a Hong Kong drama series (Bottled Passion/ 我的如意狼君) together, and the female protagonist runs a soya sauce factory and is a great cook! Ever so often, she’ll whip up her special soya sauce dishes and leave us reallyyyhungry.

Here is Tung Pun Sin (the main lead) eating the dishes that the main female lead prepares for him! Everything is steeped in soya sauce!

Anyway, the hubby and I were craving for soya sauce chicken after watching the series – so I prepared it for the season finale. Harhar. It turned out pretty well!

We used Pioneer Woman’s recipe here  which seemed easy enough & decided to prepare the frosting in the morning while baking the cake at night.

I also prepared some pretty flags to go!

I’m going to try Paula Deen’s Red Velvet Cupcakes recipe the next time I bake red velvet. The recipe calls for vegetable oil instead of shortening/butter – and it’s said to make the cake moist & yummy! The professionals also suggest using a handheld mixer instead of a standing mixer to prevent it from ‘overbeating’.

You can find the recipe after the jump!
